The North Glen Shiel Ridge: 'The Five Sisters of Kintail'
Sgurr nan Spainteach (a Top - not one of the 5 sisters) Sgurr na Ciste Duibhe Sgurr na Carnach (Formerly a Top - reclassified as a Munro 1997) Sgurr Fhuaran Sgurr nan Saighead (a Top) Sgurr na Moraich (a Top) Map Fine weather. This was a hard trip. You get to the penultimate one of the 5 sisters, already well knackered, only to see the last one, Sgurr na Moraich, still some way off in the distance - about a mile away and much further from the road. Andrew was all for calling it a day at that point but eventually after some persuasion he agreed to bash on and we finished it off. I remember stating at one point that I wasn't coming all this way and over as much as we had done today just to give up now, and that come what may I was going to carry on and finish it off. After the last one we had a bit of a trek to get back to the road where we were then faced with the delightful prospect of a further 5 mile walk back to the car. Mercifully someone responded to Andrew's raised thumb and gave us a lift after we'd gone about a mile. He was a walker himself - just been to Skye I think - and said he'd given walkers a lift along this stretch before. It was certainly well appreciated! |
