Beinn Alligin:
Tom na Gruagaich (Was a Top - reclassified as a Munro 1997)
Sgurr Mhor
Map
From Torridon we climbed up Tom na Gruagaich which wasn't a Munro at the time but which
was quite evidently worthy of that status by virtue of the large amount of effort we had to put in
getting to the top. From there it was a fairly straightforward circle round a high level arc
to claim the top of Sgurr Mhor.
My knees were hurting by the time we got there and I didn't feel up to
doing the Horns of Alligin after that. Some great views though.

We stayed the night at Garve and just got there in time for
something to eat - although if they'd refused I think I was so hungry I'd have ripped
the bloke's throat out and eaten it raw, despite being a vegetarian.
There were lots of silvery tourists staying in the hotel and
a bagpipe player in highland dress was mangling the air to entertain them while I was
cramming stuff into my face. 'Wee Alison', his daughter - aged about 9 - got up and
did a couple of reels, after which she proceeded to drag the odd frightened silvery one up from wherever
they were trying to hide and force them into reeling round with her. Bless her.
Some canny sixth sense, however, warned her against trying to separate
me from my mess of pottage.
